Brace Yourself: Google Veo 3 Launches Vertical Video

Get ready, Veo 3 is now optimized for mobile use.

Google’s AI video model now supports the vertical video format in the Gemini API. Developers are able to create Veo 3 videos with a 9:16 aspect ratio, which aligns with the vertical frame size for TikTok and Reels.

This update is targeted at developers utilizing Veo 3 through the API. Google has progressively rolled out additional Veo 3 features throughout various applications and products. Users can now transform images into videos with Veo 3 on the Gemini app and in Google Photos. Unlike other AI video creators, Veo 3 also generates audio, making it a preferred option for sharing hyperrealistic AI-generated street interviews and content from AI creators.

In the past, these videos were produced in a horizontal format or modified into a vertical format using different tools or extensions. It remains unclear whether vertical video support will be offered in consumer-friendly applications like Gemini. If anyone can optimize Veo 3-generated videos for social media, our feeds may become flooded with AI content.

Mashable has contacted Google and will provide updates on any replies. Developers can now produce vertical videos directly within the prompt. In addition to vertical video support, Google has also announced 1080p HD output and lowered pricing per second for Veo 3 (now $0.40 per second) and Veo 3 Fast (now $0.15 per second) models.
