June has emerged as a pivotal month for BTS enthusiasts, as each member of the immensely popular K-pop boyband has now fulfilled their required military service. South Korea requires all able-bodied male citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 to complete 18 to 21 months of military obligation.
Rapper Suga was the final BTS member to complete this requirement. As of Saturday, he has officially been released from his role as a social service agent, an alternative option for military service.
“It’s been around two years. How has everyone been?” Suga posted on Weverse, the fan-centered social media platform founded by HYBE Corporation.
Suga’s discharge comes after RM and V, who were released on June 10, and Jimin and Jung Kook, who were released on June 11.
Jin, the eldest member of BTS, was the first to join the army, starting his obligatory service in December 2023. He was discharged in June 2024, followed by J-Hope, who was discharged in October 2024.
Suga’s return to civilian life has officially paved the way for a BTS resurgence, which The Korea Herald reported is set for March 2026. So, what’s a few more months of waiting after several years apart?
For the moment, however, the BTS ARMY is reveling in the celebration of BTS’s return online.
