**Latest Statistics Show the Global Best-Selling Smartphone — and It’s No Surprise**
Fresh statistics reveal that there is a new leading smartphone in the world, and it may not come as a shock which device has taken the lead.
As per a report from [Counterpoint Research](https://www.counterpointresearch.com/insight/top-10-bestselling-smartphone-q3-2024/), the iPhone 15, the latest offering from Apple, firmly established its presence in the global market during the third quarter of 2024 with a market share of 3.5 percent.
In the second and third positions, we find the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro, respectively, not far behind.

This outcome is hardly shocking, considering that Apple has consistently been at the forefront of the smartphone industry in recent years. Indeed, last year’s data from Counterpoint reflected a similar pattern, as the [iPhone 14](https://mashable.com/review/apple-iphone-14-plus-review) claimed the top position, followed by the [iPhone 14 Pro Max](https://mashable.com/review/apple-iphone-14-pro-review) and iPhone 14 Pro in the second and third slots.
What’s especially noteworthy is that although iOS only comprises about 19 percent of the global operating system market share, according to [Counterpoint Research](https://www.counterpointresearch.com/insights/global-smartphone-os-market-share/), Apple still excels in individual smartphone sales. In contrast, Android dominates 77 percent of the global smartphone market, but its devices do not achieve individual sales figures comparable to the iPhone.
