CES 2026: Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo Surfaces as an Authentic Dual-Screen Gaming Laptop

Asus has brought back its dual-screen gaming laptop with more display area than ever before. The Taiwanese company introduced a new ROG Zephyrus Duo showcasing dual 16-inch 3K OLED touchscreens at CES 2026, representing its first refresh in three years along with a major redesign.

Earlier ROG Zephyrus Duos produced from 2020 to 2023 came with 15- to 16-inch screens that featured a thinner tilted panel known as the “ScreenPad Plus” positioned above the keyboard, which included a slim vertical touchpad on the right side. Critics described the setup as “pretty cool” and “potentially useful” for keeping an eye on Twitch or Discord chats while gaming, but noted the “cramped” and “awkward” arrangement of the keyboard and touchpad.

For 2026, Asus has evolved the ROG Zephyrus Duo into a genuine dual-screen gaming machine. The ScreenPad Plus has been substituted with a complete-sized display, providing 213% more screen area, and it now includes a larger detachable keyboard centered with a touchpad beneath it.

Asus has also incorporated a kickstand into the foundation and enhanced the hinge to rotate 320 degrees, enabling five usage modes:

1. **Dual-Screen Mode**: Displays stacked vertically.
2. **Laptop Mode**: Secondary display connected to the keyboard, charging automatically.
3. **Sharing Mode**: Displays resting flat on a surface.
4. **Book Mode**: Displays raised vertically side by side.
5. **Tent Mode**: Displays folding at the center like an inverted V for two-user capability.

These modifications bring the ROG Zephyrus Duo’s design in closer resemblance to the ZenBook Duo, Asus’ dual-screen productivity laptop, although the ZenBook Duo’s hinge only extends to 180 degrees and does not support Tent Mode.

The new ROG Zephyrus Duo operates on an Intel Core Ultra processor with up to Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 graphics, 64GB of memory, and 2TB of storage. Both 16-inch touchscreens are equipped with 3K OLED panels featuring 120Hz refresh rates and up to 1,100 nits brightness for HDR content.

To ensure effective cooling, Asus has installed a vapor chamber, liquid metal, dual fans, and a graphite sheet beneath the secondary display.

The ROG Zephyrus Duo boasts an aluminum chassis in a fresh Stellar Gray finish. Its lid is adorned with a diagonal “Slash Lighting” RGB LED strip featuring 35 lighting zones, though it remains subtly designed for a dual OLED display laptop.

The laptop is equipped with six Dolby Atmos speakers and a range of ports, including Thunderbolt 4, USB-A, an SD card slot, and an HDMI port. It measures 0.77 inches in thickness and weighs 6.28 pounds, making it heavier than the average 16-inch gaming laptops. For comparison, the 2023 variant measured 0.81 inches thick and weighed 5.9 pounds.

The weight of the ROG Zephyrus Duo might be a considerable issue for purchasers, second only to its cost. Asus has yet to reveal the starting price, but the previous model was priced at $3,499.99 with 32GB of RAM and 2TB of storage, and it was not launched during a RAM and storage scarcity.
