A clip from a Chinese firm featuring a robot face that resembles a human is drawing interest online, similar to Westworld. AheadForm, a robotics firm established in 2024, emphasizes the integration of lifelike humanoid robots with AI for human engagement. As per their website, the robot boasts dynamic facial expressions, moving eyes, and coordinated speech to express emotions and interpret non-verbal signals, improving authentic interactions. The viral video showcases the robot’s face showing blinks, eye movements, and human-like expressions. AheadForm claims that the robot, called AheadForm Origin M1, employs a comprehensive facial actuation system with as many as 25 micro motors for authentic gestures. The company’s site also features humanoid robots from the Lan Series and an Elven character known as ELF V1. AheadForm’s founder Hu Yuhang noted in a discussion with the South China Morning Post that in a decade, robots may seem almost human, and in two decades, they could walk and carry out tasks just like humans.
