Colin Farrell Elevates the Challenge and Lobsters in “Ballad of a Small Player” Teaser

Colin Farrell leads the trailer for director Edward Berger’s forthcoming film *Ballad of a Small Player*. Set to debut at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), the film showcases *The Penguin* star as Lord Doyle, a man who gambles every night in the casinos of Macau, becoming increasingly entrenched in debt while enjoying luxury and lobster.

Recently seen in *The End* and *Problemista*, Tilda Swinton takes on the role of private investigator Cynthia Blithe, who is tracking down Doyle. Can an enigmatic casino staff member, Dao Ming, portrayed by *Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire* star Fala Chen, assist him in escaping his troubles? That is, assuming her own secrets don’t catch up with her first.

Accompanied by a powerful rendition of Andrea True’s “More, More, More,” the *Ballad of a Small Player* trailer alludes to high stakes, substantial wagers, and a plunge into madness within a hotel room.

*Ballad of a Small Player* will premiere at TIFF on Sept. 8, followed by a limited release in U.S. cinemas on Oct. 15 and streaming starting Oct. 29.
