Commemorate Stranger Things Day with an Exclusive Look at the Animated Series Stranger Things: Tales From 85

Happy Stranger Things day! November 6 commemorates the anniversary of Will Byers’ vanishing in the inaugural episode of Stranger Things, and what better way to honor the occasion than by exploring a new Stranger Things series?

We aren’t referring to the upcoming fifth and final season of Stranger Things, which is on its way. Instead, we’re discussing Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, an animated spin-off series that takes place between the second and third seasons. This show, set to debut in 2026, brings back the beloved heroes from Hawkins like Eleven and Will, who must unravel a fresh paranormal enigma in their town.

Netflix has shared an initial look featurette of the new series, highlighting the show’s animation style and the new creatures that will challenge the Stranger Things team.

“With animation, the possibilities are truly endless,” executive producer Ross Duffer states in the featurette. “[Showrunner] Eric [Robles] and his crew can completely unleash their creativity.” “And they certainly have,” adds executive producer Matt Duffer.

To support their assertion, Netflix also revealed two initial look images from Stranger Things: Tales From ’85. One depicts the Hawkins crew gearing up for an adventure, while the other showcases a gigantic creature that appears to be a blend of a Demogorgon and a spider, ensnaring Eleven and her companions in its tendrils.

Netflix wrapped up the announcements for Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 with the introduction of the show’s cast list. None of the original Stranger Things cast will be reprising their roles. The cast features Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Luca Diaz as Mike, EJ Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Ben Plessala as Will, and Brett Gipson as Hopper. Additional cast members include Odessa A’zion, Janeane Garofalo, and Lou Diamond Phillips.

Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 is set to premiere in 2026 on Netflix.
