Disney’s 2025 Destination D23 event may not unveil as many significant film and television announcements as its biennial D23 Expo, but it still provided a wealth of excitement for Disney enthusiasts.
Destination D23’s Aug. 30 Walt Disney Studios Showcase event gave attendees their first glimpses of upcoming titles from Disney Animation, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars, featuring Toy Story 5, Avengers: Doomsday, and The Mandalorian & Grogu. We’ve gathered all the key announcements below, so you won’t miss a single detail.
Toy Story 5 introduces new characters and plot elements.
During last year’s D23 Expo, director Andrew Stanton shared a teaser for Pixar’s newest sequel, along with the plot overview indicating a clash between toys and technology. Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and the entire crew will be up against the Pixar iteration of an iPad: Bonnie’s adversarial Lily Pad tablet.
This year’s D23 presented fresh insights into Toy Story 5, showcasing concept artwork for Lily Pad and the film’s introductory scene, which depicts a massive army of Buzz Lightyears arriving on an uninhabited island. This army will be among the film’s antagonists after malfunctioning during play time.
The Toy Story 5 portion of the Walt Disney Studios showcase also announced that Conan O’Brien will lend his voice to the character Smarty Pants, a potty training toy.
How to watch: Toy Story 5 is set to hit theaters on June 19, 2026.
Pixar reaffirmed its sequel-oriented upcoming film lineup.
Pixar also highlighted its forthcoming slate of films, which leans heavily on sequels. The animal body-swapping comedy Hoppers arrives in theaters on March 6, 2026, with Toy Story 5 following on June 19.
Next is the original film Gatto, directed by Enrico Casarosa (Luca). Slated for a June 2027 release, the story follows a black cat residing in Venice who forms an unexpected bond with a street artist. After this, Pixar dives back into sequel territory with Incredibles 3 and Coco 2. While exact release dates remain unconfirmed, Pixar has planned their releases for “2028 and beyond.”
Marvel presented the first glimpse of Avengers: Doomsday.
In a video update from the set of Avengers: Doomsday in London, Paul Rudd and directors Joe and Anthony Russo shared footage from the upcoming superhero ensemble film. This footage has not yet been made public. Nevertheless, the Russo Brothers assert that Avengers: Doomsday is the largest film they’ve ever produced. How will they possibly surpass Avengers: Endgame?

Star Wars unveiled footage from The Mandalorian & Grogu.
