There’s a reason behind this perception. AI is programmed on extensive collections of human writing, where the em dash appears often. Even candidates for president frequently misuse it. AI systems like ChatGPT and Grok have adopted the em dash to imitate authentic writing. Studies show that em dashes became twice as prevalent as AI gained traction.
