In our review of the Mic 3, we awarded it a score of 4.25 out of 5, mainly due to its adaptability and ease of use for creators. It certainly has its limitations: You can no longer connect an external lavalier microphone, and the transmitters have lost their individual USB-C ports. Nevertheless, the new adaptive gain control is incredibly helpful. It automatically adjusts your volume, preventing peaks in audio levels if a guest suddenly raises their voice, ensuring the entire recording remains intact.
The device is compact enough to fit in your pocket, and the charging case provides around 28 hours of total battery life. It also captures audio in 32-bit float internally, offering sufficient data to “rescue” recordings that were too quiet or excessively loud during post-production.
