The animatronic horror at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza makes a comeback in the trailer for *Five Nights at Freddy’s 2*.
Director Emma Tammi returns with a follow-up to her 2023 movie, which became the highest-grossing horror film of that year and marked Blumhouse’s best opening weekend ever. Inspired by Scott Cawthon’s game series, the film showcases the cursed, animatronic-infested pizzeria as a dark tourism destination, with the narrative of the first film giving rise to the inaugural Fazfest. What could possibly go awry?
Josh Hutcherson and Elizabeth Lail reprise their roles as former Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza security guard Mike and police officer Vanessa, who made it through the first film and have yet to reveal the truth about the haunted animatronic creatures Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy to Mike’s sister Abby (Piper Rubio). Abby picks up the eerie voices on the radio that Mike and Vanessa believed had vanished. They’re back.
Matthew Lillard returns to his role from the first movie, with his *Scream* co-star Skeet Ulrich joining for the sequel (Billy and Stu are back together!). Theodus Crane also returns, joined by new cast members including *Jurassic Park/Seinfeld* icon Wayne Knight, *Shadow and Bone*’s Freddy Carter, and *Annabelle Comes Home*’s Mckenna Grace.
Here’s how to catch the first *Five Nights at Freddy’s* film, but Mashable Entertainment Editor Kristy Puchko pointed out in her review, “*Five Nights At Freddy’s* becomes so weighed down with a convoluted plot concerning dream theory, guilt, and child custody that it loses its entertainment value.” Perhaps the sequel will improve on this?
*Five Nights at Freddy’s 2* will be released in theaters on Dec. 2.
