GE Unveils Intelligent Refrigerator Featuring Barcode Scanner Connected to Instacart for Delivery

Ahead of CES 2026, GE unveiled the Smart Refrigerator with Kitchen Assistant, which includes a barcode scanner for adding items to your grocery list and syncing with Instacart. The “Scan-to-List” feature permits you to scan products and incorporate them into a shopping list within GE’s SmartHQ app, allowing for sharing, in-store usage, or transfer to Instacart for fast delivery. Additionally, voice commands can be utilized to add items, ask for unit conversions, or obtain product details.

If you’re uncertain about dinner options, the fridge provides recipe integrations, introducing over 50 new recipes each month for you to save or add ingredients to your list. The “FridgeFocus” function is designed to minimize food waste with a camera in an LED bar that takes real-time photos of crisper drawers, enabling you to keep track of your produce while shopping.

Jason May, executive product director of French-door refrigeration at GE Appliances, commented that the new smart fridge “extends our tradition of kitchen innovations by offering solutions that accommodate real-life scenarios and address common challenges such as meal decision fatigue and grocery shopping.”

The smart fridge will launch in standard-depth or counter-depth configurations on GE’s website and through other retailers in April, with a price tag of around $4,899. Check out the Mashable CES 2026 hub for the latest news and updates from the tech event.
