“I did not come here to poke at your trauma,” is not a phrase I, Mashable Entertainment Editor Kristy Puchko, anticipated stating to anyone, particularly Scottish action star Gerard Butler. When we gathered to commemorate the release of Greenland 2: Migration with a round of “Slash or Pass,” I was ready to delve into disaster films, oblivious to the multitude of real-life catastrophe situations Butler has faced off-screen.
“My life is a disaster,” he chuckled while engaging in the game. However, you should witness it yourself to watch Butler calmly recount all the intense experiences he’s navigated. Then you too will understand that, in times of peril, we should seek out Gerard Butler.
In our conversation about disaster films, we discussed Titanic, Airplane!, Geostorm, Twister, The Happening, and of course, Greenland and Greenland 2: Migration. The sequel features Butler reprising the role of engineer/family man John Garrity, who successfully got his wife and son to safety as the world-threatening comet Clarke approached Earth. This time, he’ll confront natural disasters and human-made dangers to lead his loved ones to a new “green land,” a haven of serenity, clean air, and the hope for a brighter future.
Greenland 2: Migration is currently in theaters.
