Google is celebrating the debut of its “AI Mode” function with a unique Google Doodle. This Doodle is featured on Chrome’s new tab page across multiple devices, displaying Google’s new gradient logo and directing users to its upgraded AI Mode, touted as its “most advanced AI search.”
Last year, Google launched generative AI search outcomes, which resulted in some atypical results. In 2025, AI Overviews are still having difficulty with fundamental questions.
The revamped AI-driven search intends to support users with their “most challenging inquiries.” Here’s how it operates.
What is Google AI Mode?
AI Mode is the latest search function from Google aimed at providing direct answers to queries. It merges AI-generated replies with internet content that is summarized and linked.
This feature leverages Gemini 2.5, a refreshed iteration of Google’s primary AI model. The model condenses the information collected into succinct answers. Google AI Mode can process multimodal inquiries, enabling users to pose questions via text, voice, or images.

Robby Stein, Google’s VP of Search, remarked that AI Mode is “especially useful for inquiries that require deeper analysis, comparisons, and reasoning.”
“You can pose complex questions that might have once necessitated multiple searches — such as investigating a new idea or weighing detailed choices — and receive a valuable AI-generated response with links to gain more insights,” Stein noted.
How do you utilize AI Mode?
Google AI Mode is currently broadly accessible in the US and undergoing testing in India. If you are in the US, you can access the tool right away. Users have a few options:
Go to the Google homepage and select AI Mode, found on the right side of the search bar.
Search directly at: google.com/aimode.
Launch the Google app on a mobile device and tap AI Mode on the home screen.
A worldwide expansion for the feature may be forthcoming, although Google has yet to issue any announcements. Let’s observe how this new AI-enhanced search performs.
