Google Chrome Launches Online Store Ratings to Confirm Retailer Authenticity

If you are an experienced online shopper, you’re probably well aware of the doubts regarding a website’s trustworthiness. It’s common to come across something fascinating or a long-desired product, such as a Labubu, and question whether the site is legitimate. Google Chrome is rolling out a new feature to assist in verifying a website’s authenticity. While Google already provides product review information in search results, you can now see reviews of the store itself directly in Chrome prior to making a purchase. Google elaborated in a blog post regarding this new functionality: “This feature utilizes data from Google Shopping and other well-known review platforms to offer users valuable insights when shopping on e-commerce websites. Simply click the icon to the left of the URL, and you can access an AI-generated overview of reviews. The summary will address aspects such as customer service, product quality, shipping, pricing, and returns, giving you a clear understanding of what to expect from your shopping journey at a glance.” Here is an illustration of a store review.
