**Google Family Link Receives a Design Makeover**
Google is introducing an updated design for its **Family Link** app, enhancing the experience for parents overseeing their children’s screen time and device configurations.
The Family Link app enables parents to track and regulate their child’s activity on Android devices, but managing several devices—like a smartphone, tablet, and laptop—can occasionally feel daunting.
### **Enhanced Screen Time Oversight**
In a [blog entry](https://blog.google/technology/families/family-link-updates-february-2025/) on Tuesday, Google revealed that Family Link will now include a **special “screen time” tab**, gathering all screen-time management features in one convenient location. This encompasses time limits, alongside controls for **”downtime”** and **”school time”** settings, which limit device use during designated hours.
### **Refined Controls and Additional Features**
The current **Control tab** has been modernized, enabling parents to handle account data, approve app installations, and restrict websites more effectively.
Moreover, Google is set to roll out the **”school time”** feature to Android smartphones and tablets next week. This capability was initially launched last year on the **Samsung Galaxy Watch for Kids** and **Fitbit ACE LTE**.
Later this year, Family Link will also provide parents the ability to **approve contacts** for the **Galaxy Watch for Kids**, further enhancing their oversight of their child’s online interactions.
With these enhancements, Google aspires to streamline parental controls and elevate the overall Family Link experience.
