Google Maps for iOS Now Retains Your Parking Spot

Google Maps on iOS has rolled out a fresh feature designed to assist you in avoiding aimlessly navigating parking lots. This update was announced by Google Maps senior product manager Rio Akasaka and highlighted by MacRumors, and it is now live on iOS, offering ease of use.

Link your iPhone’s Google Maps application to your vehicle through CarPlay, Bluetooth, or USB. Following your drive, Google Maps will indicate your parking location with a “You parked here” pin, which will vanish upon your departure. This automates the former “Save where you parked” function, still available alongside a feature that indicates where parking can be found.

The parking spot memory functionality was incorporated roughly a month ago and underwent a visual enhancement last week. If you have a personalized vehicle icon in Google Maps, it will now be displayed on your parking pin instead of the standard “P” icon.

To configure a personalized vehicle icon, launch Google Maps, initiate Navigation, tap the blue arrow (or car icon if modified), and select your driving avatar by swiping left or right.
