Lewis Capaldi made a triumphant return to the stage at the Glastonbury Festival and on Google Search over the weekend. The Grammy-nominated Scottish artist amazed fans with a surprise appearance on the Pyramid Stage on Friday, signifying his first performance at the festival since dealing with tics associated with his Tourette’s syndrome in 2023 and his first live show after a two-year break. Thousands of supporters sang along with him to “Someone You Loved,” forming an emotional moment. “Glastonbury, it’s so fantastic to be back,” Capaldi stated, as reported by the BBC. “I’m not going to say much up here today because if I did, I might start crying.” He subsequently proclaimed, “My name is Lewis Capaldi and I’m f***ing back, baby.”
In honor of Capaldi’s return, Google incorporated a special Easter egg into Search, presenting a message that reads, “❤️ Welcome back Lewis – Someone we love ❤️” when searching for his name. Capaldi disclosed his Tourette’s syndrome diagnosis in 2022, which is elaborated in Joe Pearlman’s 2023 documentary, “How I’m Feeling Now.” After canceling his tour in 2023, Capaldi announced that he would be “taking a break from touring for the foreseeable future.” He expressed on Instagram the need for additional time to adapt to the effects of his Tourette’s following his 2023 Glastonbury performance, where fans supported him in singing parts he couldn’t manage. “On Saturday, it became clear that I need to dedicate much more time to get my mental and physical health sorted so I can continue doing everything I cherish for a long time,” he added.
After his Glastonbury performance, Capaldi revealed a UK and Ireland arena tour scheduled for September 2025. UK audiences can view Capaldi’s entire Glastonbury 2025 set on BBC iPlayer, while those outside the UK can consult Mashable’s guide on how to watch the replays.
