Google’s sophisticated Pixel 10 is poised for a standout appearance. At the Made by Google presentation on Wednesday, the tech giant will introduce the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL smartphones. Mirroring the rest of the Pixel 10 lineup, this year’s enhancements are primarily incremental, though some might be quite impactful. The Pixel 10 Pro starts at $999, whereas the Pro XL, which boasts a larger screen and battery, begins at $1,199.
We recently had a sneak peek of the refreshed Pixel 10 series and will share an in-depth review shortly. The Pixel 10 Pro brings enhancements over last year’s Pixel 9 Pro, though they are modest. We will refrain from endorsing an upgrade until we have thoroughly evaluated the new Pixel 10 series, but in the meantime, you can check the specifications and form your own conclusions.
Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL: Specifications
Both the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL are offered in four hues: Moonstone, Jade, Porcelain, and Obsidian. They come with notable RAM and storage enhancements compared to the standard Pixel 10, while sharing the same processor.
Specifications for Pixel 10 Pro:
– 6.3-inch screen with 1280×2856 resolution and 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate
– 3,300 nits peak brightness
– 16GB RAM
– 128GB/256GB/512GB/1TB storage
– Google Tensor G5 chipset
– 4,870mAh battery
– Rear cameras: 50MP wide, 48MP ultrawide, 48MP telephoto
– Front camera: 42MP
The Pixel 10 Pro XL shares most specifications with the Pro, with a significant distinction being a 6.8-inch display in place of 6.3 inches. The Pro XL also comes with a larger 5,200mAh battery, and Google guarantees over 30 hours of battery life for both models. Both smartphones are compatible with Qi2 wireless charging. The Pro XL’s base storage is 256GB, removing the 128GB choice.
The Pixel 10 Pro: What about the cameras?
The cameras have not undergone significant changes in megapixel numbers; however, Google has enhanced Super Res Zoom functionality from 30x to 100x. This could be thrilling considering the remarkable telephoto zoom capability in earlier Pixel devices. The increased battery sizes are also advantageous, addressing earlier feedback regarding battery performance.
For 8K video recording, you’ll require the Pro or Pro XL, as the base Pixel 10 does not offer this capability.
Pixel 10 Pro: What else is new?
In addition to the 100x zoom, key updates include Qi2 wireless charging and innovative AI functionalities powered by Google Gemini.
Google has rolled out new AI features across all Pixel 10 devices, such as live translation during calls and a “Magic Cue” function for context-sensitive activities like showing flight details during airline communications. Daily Hub provides a consolidated spot for daily updates, akin to the Now Brief feature on recent Samsung smartphones.
Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL: Release date and preorder
The Google Pixel 10 Pro ($999) and Pro XL ($1,199) release on Aug. 28 and are currently available for preorder.
