GoPro Unveils AI-Tracking Stabilizer for Smartphones and Action Cameras

Action camera manufacturers have experienced a noteworthy month. At the close of August, Insta360 launched a compact new action camera. DJI has recently revealed its rival to this camera. Now, GoPro has shared news of not one, but two new action cameras.

Alongside these action cameras, GoPro has also introduced a fresh product, an AI tracking gimbal known as the Fluid Pro AI.

Scheduled to hit stores on October 21, the Fluid Pro AI utilizes AI technology to focus on a subject’s face or body, guaranteeing they stay within the frame.

The 3-axis gimbal can track both forward and backward-facing subjects, making it ideal for selfie videos. It is capable of panning and rotating 360 degrees, as well as tilting up to 320 degrees. Additionally, the device is equipped with a built-in fill light.

Notably, GoPro has designed its handheld camera stabilizer to be compatible with more than just GoPro cameras. While GoPro users can connect their cameras to the Fluid Pro AI, it also accommodates devices weighing up to 400 grams, including smartphones like the iPhone and compact cameras such as the Sony ZV-1. This sets it apart from similar gimbals made by DJI or Insta360, which are primarily intended for mobile phones.

GoPro claims that the Fluid Pro AI provides up to 18 hours of operating time and can serve as an external power bank for the device it supports.

The Fluid Pro AI will be launched next month at a price of $229.99. Although this is pricier than most competitors, it boasts more features, extended battery life, and compatibility with various camera types. The effectiveness of its AI tracking technology will be essential in assessing whether it justifies the increased cost.
