Grammarly undergoes a rebranding to Superhuman, sharpening its emphasis on AI.

Grammarly, the renowned automatic grammar checker popular among students and professionals, has transitioned to Superhuman, shifting its focus towards a variety of agentic AI products. In a blog post dated October 29, the organization unveiled new AI-driven offerings aimed at upgrading its writing companion, featuring the comprehensive workspace Coda and Superhuman Mail, an AI-centric inbox obtained earlier this year. Additionally, the company is launching Superhuman Go, a network of universal AI agents applicable across applications, all accessible through a single Superhuman subscription.

AI technology is not unfamiliar to Grammarly, which has established its reputation on intelligent functionalities akin to other spell-checking and grammar applications. During the AI surge, Grammarly made investments in conversational generative AI, unveiling its chatbot writing assistant, GrammarlyGo, in 2023. In August, it revealed eight tailored AI agents within its “AI-native writing surface” designed for specific writing assistance, citation verification, and grading rubrics.

The rebranding indicates more ambitious goals, including the creation of “proactive” AI that predicts user actions. In a follow-up blog post, the company conveyed its objective to bridge the productivity divide between AI promises and actual performance. Analysts speculate that the AI bubble, with its AGI expectations, may be on the verge of bursting.

“Currently, AI seems like something we must learn to control or harness,” the organization remarked. “We aspire for the AI to feel so intuitive that its use becomes commonplace; so integrated into your workflow that you forget it’s even present.”
