GTA VI Postponement: Most Recent News

Grand Theft Auto VI is one of the most highly anticipated games in history, with speculation of yet another delay making the rounds while Rockstar stays quiet.

At this moment, Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch on May 26, 2026, after Rockstar chose to push back its initial “late 2025” release timeframe to the next year. Insider Gaming indicates that publisher Take-Two Interactive may solidify the May date in 2025, only to reveal a delay in February.

To be clear, nothing has been validated. The conjecture stems from a variety of reports and insights from gaming journalists and informants. Insider Gaming’s editor-in-chief Tom Henderson noted on his podcast that he is skeptical the game will arrive in the proposed May 2026 timeframe, although his sources are not robust enough for an official statement. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, a well-respected industry journalist, cautioned in May that “there’s no assurance that May 2026 is a definite date.”

As for the possible delay, Henderson posits that October 2026 is more plausible, while PlayStation leaker Millie A proposes September 2026. Regardless, fans may need to endure a longer wait for Rockstar’s next significant title.

For the time being, these remain mere speculations. Mashable reached out to Rockstar Games for a statement but has yet to hear back.
