Some users of Google Maps have recently experienced the loss of their timeline data due to a technical glitch.

In a statement to *Mashable*, Google confirmed the issue, detailing that a temporary error led to the deletion of Timeline data for certain users. However, the company did not specify the number of individuals impacted.

“Almost everyone with encrypted Timeline backups will be able to restore their data; unfortunately, those who did not have backups turned on will be unable to retrieve lost data,” Google stated. The problem has now been resolved, and Timeline services are operating normally.
