Hertz Intends to Provide Electric Vehicles for Purchase to Renters

Hertz is reportedly considering a fresh method to divest some of its electric vehicles (EVs) by directly presenting them to customers who are currently renting the cars. The rental car firm has been proactively contacting renters, allowing them the option to acquire the EVs they are using.

A **viral Reddit post** uncovered an email from Hertz that provided a customer the opportunity to purchase the very EV they were renting—a 2023 Tesla Model 3 for the price of $17,913. Other users on the post recounted similar situations, with some receiving propositions for various EV models.

Hertz’s communications director, Jamie Line, clarified to **The Verge** that this tactic is not a new initiative and is not solely limited to electric vehicles. “By linking our rental customers who subscribe to our emails to our sales channels, we’re not only raising awareness that we sell cars but also presenting a distinctive opportunity to those who might be interested in the same car they have rented,” Line stated.

Selling cars from its fleet has been a traditional practice for Hertz, and the company currently features a selection of electric vehicles for sale on its website. Earlier this year, Hertz declared intentions to offload approximately 30,000 EVs in light of considerable financial setbacks, further highlighting its efforts to reduce its EV stock.
