Today, Hinge reveals new prompts developed in collaboration with Esther Perel, psychotherapist and host of the podcast Where Should We Begin?
Perel is celebrated for her knowledge in sex and relationships. Where Should We Begin? allows listeners to witness anonymous couples therapy sessions. Her acclaimed book Mating in Captivity delves into sex within long-lasting relationships.
The 10 fresh conversation starters, themed “Your World,” are crafted to inspire users to disclose more than standard dating app profile information.
1. In my social circle, I’m the individual who…
2. Something my pet believes about me…
3. The most generous act anyone has ever done for me…
4. A recognition my family would bestow upon me…
5. You might not know, but I…
6. I’m in my zone when…
7. Prior to our meeting, you ought to listen to…
8. I could talk all night about…
9. It isn’t a getaway unless…
10. The place I go to feel a little more like myself…
“As a couples therapist, I’ve dedicated years to observing relationships at every phase. I’ve observed that love frequently begins with an invitation: to converse, to connect, to share narratives, to discover the world together. And the right invitations spark curiosity, foster playfulness, and liberate daters from outdated patterns,” expressed Perel in the press release.
Hinge is recognized for its prompts, and earlier this year, the app integrated AI-driven prompt feedback to motivate more comprehensive responses. Hinge also recently launched Match Note, a feature to share private information with matches that daters may wish to keep off a public profile.
Prompts have proven to be so effective that other dating apps have begun incorporating similar functionalities. In recent years, both Bumble and Tinder have added them as options in user profiles (the latter and Hinge are both under the same parent company, Match Group).
