What is Connections?

The Times credits Wyna Liu, an associate puzzle editor, for contributing to the game’s creation and its inclusion in the Games section. Connections is playable on web browsers and mobile devices, requiring players to categorize four words based on a shared attribute.

Each puzzle contains 16 words categorized into four groups. These groups can range from book titles to software names or country names. While many words may appear to fit together, only one combination is correct.

If a player successfully identifies all four words in a category, those words are removed from the board. Incorrect guesses are counted as errors—players are allowed up to four mistakes before the game concludes.
