What is Connections?
The NYT‘s newest daily word challenge has turned into a hit on social media. The Times attributes the work of associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu for developing this new word game and introducing it to the publication’s Games section. Connections is playable on both web browsers and mobile devices, requiring players to categorize four words that have something in common.

Every puzzle consists of 16 words, with each category divided into four groups. These collections could encompass anything from book titles, software products, country names, and more. While several words may appear to fit together, only one answer is correct.
If a player accurately categorizes all four words in a group, those words are removed from the board. A wrong guess counts as a mistake—players are allowed up to four mistakes before the game concludes.

Players also have the option to rearrange and shuffle the board for better visibility of connections. Each group is color-coded, with yellow being the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Much like Wordle, you can share your results with friends on social media.
