What is Connections?
The NYT‘s latest daily word game has become a social media sensation. The Times credits associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu for helping to create the new word game and adding it to the publication’s Games section. Connections is available on both web browsers and mobile devices, requiring players to group four words with a common link.

Each puzzle includes 16 words divided into four categories. These sets can consist of anything from book titles to software or country names. Even though several words may seem related, there’s only one correct answer.
If a player correctly identifies all four words in a set, those words are removed from the board. Incorrect guesses count as mistakes—players can make up to four mistakes before the game ends.

Players can also rearrange and shuffle the board to spot connections more easily. Additionally, each group is color-coded: yellow is the easiest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Like Wordle, you can share your results with friends on social media.
