What is Connections?

The NYT‘s newest daily word game has turned into a phenomenon on social media. The Times acknowledges associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu for her role in developing this fresh word game and incorporating it into the publication’s Games section. Connections is accessible on both web browsers and mobile devices, requiring players to group together four words that have something in common.

Each puzzle consists of 16 words, with each set of words divided into four categories. These groupings could encompass anything from book titles and software to country names, etc. Although various words may appear to fit, only one combination is correct.

If a player successfully identifies all four words in a category, those words are eliminated from the board. A wrong guess counts as a mistake—players have up to four errors allowed before the game concludes.

Players also have the option to rearrange and shuffle the board to facilitate the identification of connections. Moreover, each group is assigned a color, with yellow representing the easiest, followed in order by green, blue, and purple. Similar to Wordle, you can share your results on social media with friends.
