What is Connections?

The NYT‘s most recent daily word game has turned into a hit on social media. The Times attributes the creation of this new word game to associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu, who contributed to its development and inclusion in the Games section of the publication. Connections is accessible both via web browsers and mobile devices, challenging players to categorize four words that have a shared connection.

Each puzzle features 16 words, with groupings sorted into four distinct categories. These groups could encompass a variety of topics, including book titles, software names, or country designations. Although several words may appear to fit together, only one combination is correct.

If a player successfully identifies all four words in a category, those words are cleared from the board. An incorrect guess counts as a mistake—players have a maximum of four mistakes allowed until the game concludes.

Players also have the option to rearrange and shuffle the board to facilitate the discovery of connections. Furthermore, each category is distinguished by color, starting with yellow as the simplest, followed by green, blue, and purple. Similar to Wordle, you can share your results with friends on social media.
