Home Depot fans are excitedly anticipating the first “Code Orange” drop of the year. The retailer has revealed that its 2025 Halloween collection will be unveiled next month, bringing back the 12-foot skeleton “Skelly” along with two new eerie pets. This collection will launch online and via the Home Depot app on Monday, August 4, with select items expected to be in stores around Labor Day. “This year’s lineup offers something for everyone,” mentioned Aubrey Horowitz, Home Depot’s decorative holiday merchant. “We’ve blended creativity, quality, and value to elevate your celebrations even further.”
The Ultra Skelly presents a shorter, more interactive alternative to the viral 12-footer. Next week’s event signifies the first Halloween release of the year after the “Halfway to Halloween” launch was canceled in April, which disappointed collectors and fueled conspiracy theories among enthusiasts on Facebook.
Skelly headlines the “Grave & Bones” collection for the sixth consecutive year at a price of $299, accompanied by a 5-foot-tall Doberman-style Sitting Skelly’s Dog featuring moving LCD “LifeEyes” for $249, and a 5-foot-long Skelly’s Cat priced at $199. The much-loved 7-foot-long Skelly’s Dog ($199) from 2024 will also be available online again.
The Skelly family is growing with the addition of a new 6.5-foot animated Ultra Skelly ($279) that has Bluetooth capabilities for personalized messages and real-time control through a smartphone. Horowitz is thrilled about this advancement, acknowledging its potential for use throughout the year.
Home Depot is launching the “Gruesome Grounds” collection, which features the “Worricrow” and “Gally Crow,” both 15-foot light-up, motion-activated animatronics with 12-foot arm spans, retailing at $399. The Gally Crow will be exclusive to online sales.
The precise start time for the Halloween release on August 4 has not been disclosed, but previous launches typically commenced around 6 a.m. ET. Items will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
While August may appear early for Halloween festivities, it is considered late for Home Depot, which had previously offered props in April for a Halfway to Halloween sale. The spring 2025 sale was called off, raising concerns among fans. Some speculated that President Donald Trump’s tariffs on Chinese imports, impacting Skelly and other animatronics produced by Seasonal Visions International (SVI), were responsible.
Home Depot did not verify whether tariffs influenced the cancellation, stating the spring sale was envisioned as a “surprise and delight moment” rather than a fundamental strategy. Nonetheless, tariffs did affect the Halloween market, leading some competitors to delay or withdraw their releases. SVI concluded its free replacement part program and decreased parts availability, attributing this to “changes in tariffs and global supply chain shifts.”
