The newest iteration of ChatGPT is now accessible and readily available. Sam Altman and his team conducted a livestream on Thursday to unveil GPT-5, announcing that it is being rolled out immediately to nearly everyone, including those using the free version. OpenAI has revamped its website with comprehensive details about the new model, which includes a “Try now” button directing users to the standard ChatGPT starting page.
So, is GPT-5 available for use at this moment? The answer is “kind of.” As reported by Wired, “most users” will now interact with a version of ChatGPT that automatically chooses the suitable model based on the intricacy of the request, rather than necessitating users to select a model on their own. This makes it somewhat more difficult to deliberately evaluate the new model.
During my testing, I inquired if ChatGPT was utilizing GPT-5 and was told that the model has not yet been launched. It seems that, as of this writing, GPT-5 has not been completely rolled out. However, once it is available, the method to experience it will simply be to use it.
