How to Utilize Google Meet’s Latest AI Makeup Feature

Google Meet has unveiled a new AI-driven makeup filter that enables users to apply lipstick virtually. Launched on October 13, this functionality builds on the platform’s “Touch Up” tool introduced in 2023. Comparable to AR beauty filters found on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat, Google Meet’s latest feature allows users to apply virtual makeup such as foundation, blush, lipstick, mascara, and eyeshadow. Google showcased this tool in a blog entry, emphasizing its remarkable facial mapping capabilities. There are 12 makeup choices available, including “rosy pink,” “cat eye,” “goth chic,” and “dewy fresh.” Here’s how to utilize the new AI makeup tool:

1. Launch a Google Meet calendar event but do not join yet. Click the icon featuring a person in a frame and a star.
2. Click “Appearance” located next to “Background” and “Filters.”
3. Scroll down to the “Makeup” category and experiment with different styles by clicking on the face icons.
4. Choose your makeup style and make sure your camera is active to see it applied.
5. To eliminate the makeup filter, click the highlighted option again.
6. Hit the X in the top right corner to return to the lobby and then click “Join now.”
7. To switch the makeup tool on and off during a meeting, tap the three dots beside the red phone button.
8. Click “Backgrounds and effects” and follow the same steps again.
