“If I Had Legs I’d Kick You” Trailer: Rose Byrne Stars as a Mother Losing Grip in A24 Drama

Writer-director Mary Bronstein and lead actress Rose Byrne delve into the worries of motherhood in A24’s forthcoming dramedy *If I Had Legs I’d Kick You*. The story centers on Linda (Byrne), a mother approaching a mental breakdown. She grapples with her young daughter’s (Delaney Quinn) illness, her husband is often absent, and her flooded bathroom has collapsed into her bedroom. Furthermore, she is in conflict with her exasperated therapist (Conan O’Brien), who disregards her dream-related correspondence.

*If I Had Legs I’d Kick You* debuted at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, receiving positive reviews, and also showcased at the 2025 Berlin International Film Festival, vying for the Golden Bear for best feature. Byrne took home the Silver Bear for Best Leading Performance. The film is scheduled to present at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival and New York Film Festival, positioning it as a strong contender for awards.

In his Sundance critique, Mashable writer Siddhant Adlakha lauded the film, calling it “a profoundly anxiety-inducing piece, whose high-strung energy derives from an audacious audio-visual style that should not be feasible, yet turns out to be both shocking and comedic over time. The outcome, in one word, is superb.”

The cast also includes Danielle Macdonald and A$AP Rocky. *If I Had Legs I’d Kick You* will appear at the Toronto International Film Festival and the New York Film Festival. It is set to be released in theaters on Oct. 10.
