Insta360, a company specializing in action cameras, has collaborated with partners to launch a new brand of drones named Antigravity. Announced on Monday, Antigravity asserts it will bring forth the first-ever aerial drone incorporated with 360-degree video capture, with an anticipated release on the horizon.
The inaugural drone from Antigravity is scheduled for launch in August, although limited information has been shared. The firm has disclosed that the drone will weigh under 249 grams, comparable to the DJI Mini 4K or Mini 4 Pro. Additionally, it will capture 360-degree video at an 8K resolution, similar to Insta360’s X5 camera introduced in April.
Antigravity highlights its focus on straightforward usage for both novices and seasoned users, ensuring extensive experience is not a prerequisite. “User-friendliness is the foundation for all Antigravity products,” the company mentioned in a press release, aiming to make drones approachable for all.
With a focus on videography, Antigravity’s drones will incorporate safety features such as payload detection to avert misuse or unauthorized alterations. The company also introduced the Antigravity Hub, a collaborative initiative welcoming user insights and suggestions, offering rewards for ideas that lead to innovative products or enhancements.
Insta360 has previously served drone videographers with the 2022 Insta360 Sphere, developed for the DJI Mavic Air 2 or 2S, facilitating 360 aerial footage without the drone being visible. Now, Antigravity intends to provide these features independently, aspiring to conquer the skies and “transform aerial exploration and storytelling.”
