Creating an AI companion that resembles a Tribble is wonderfully ironic. The legendary Star Trek alien was first introduced in the 1967 episode “The Trouble with Tribbles,” where these fluffy beings swiftly transitioned from “adorable” to “irritating nuisance.” Almost sixty years later, the Fuzozo, an AI emotional companion akin to the Star Trek alien, is set to debut at CES 2026. The Fuzozo identifies its owner, reacts to their voice, purrs when stroked, shifts closer on the couch, and waits by the entrance when its owner is absent. A review of the earlier version describes it as “feeling alive.”
As reported by Forbes, agentic and physical AI, such as the Fuzozo, represents a prospective multi-trillion-dollar sector, rendering this companion a highly awaited launch at CES. Typically, AI companions are restricted to home environments due to their dependence on WiFi. “True companionship should accompany you everywhere,” declares a press release from Tuya Smart, which released the companion alongside Robopoet. “The golden age of AI companions will arrive when they are as connected and mobile as your smartphone.”
The Fuzozo is not the inaugural AI companion to take advantage of mobile connections. The AI companion and wearable “Friend” also operates via phone WiFi or cellular data. This appears to be a fusion of the Friend and a Labubu.
“We collaborated with Tuya Smart on the cellular version of Fuzozo due to Tuya’s strong global cloud service capabilities, ensuring stable, seamless emotional companionship,” remarked Joe Sun, CEO of Robopoet, in the press release. “This collaboration enables us to concentrate on enhancing core innovations in emotional interaction and providing a unique AI companion experience globally.”
