iOS 26 Brings New Emojis, Yet They Won’t Show Up Right Away

Apple’s interface upgrade, iOS 26, is approaching. To commemorate World Emoji Day on July 16, the Unicode Consortium has sanctioned new emojis for this update.

The Unicode Consortium oversees the Unicode Standard, which guarantees uniform text and emoji representation across different platforms. It is not Apple or Google that selects the emojis; rather, it is the Consortium. For Unicode 17.0, eight new emojis have been designated.

The new emojis include:

– Apple Core
– Ballet Dancers
– Distorted Face
– Fight Cloud
– Hairy Creature
– Orca
– Trombone
– Treasure Chest

These emojis probably won’t be included in the first release of iOS 26. Apple typically requires time to craft bespoke versions, which emerge in subsequent updates. For example, Unicode 16.0 was finalized on September 10, 2024, but the emojis did not show up on iPhones until iOS 18.4 in March of this year.

Although iOS 26 is set to launch shortly, anticipate the arrival of the new emojis a few months afterward.
