Apple may be setting its sights high with the battery in its forthcoming premium iPhone. Or, at the very least, striving to match what numerous Android devices have already achieved. A recent leak from Chinese source Setsuna Digital on Weibo (via GSMArena) indicates that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will sport a 5,000mAh battery, representing Apple’s inaugural 5,000mAh cell in an iPhone. This would exceed the previous largest iPhone battery, the 4,685mAh cell found in the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
A significant number of contemporary Android flagships, such as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, have already been released with 5,000mAh batteries. Nonetheless, iPhone batteries have typically been energy-efficient and have performed admirably in tests throughout the years. This renders the news even more thrilling; if the new iPhone’s battery is larger while still retaining efficiency, it could constitute a meaningful enhancement. We’ll learn more in September.
