Apple has launched a Mac mini Service Program to resolve problems with certain Mac mini models that are unable to turn on. “Apple has recognized that a limited number of Mac mini (2023) devices featuring the M2 chip may be unable to power on. These units were manufactured between June 16, 2024, and November 23, 2024,” the firm mentioned on a support page published on Friday. Owners of affected Mac minis should input their device’s serial number into a form on Apple’s website to verify eligibility for a repair. If eligible, either Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider will rectify the issue free of charge. Apple indicated that no other Mac mini models are part of this program, thus older or newer versions with similar issues likely will not get a complimentary repair. The program is applicable to eligible Mac mini units for three years from their initial retail sale. The company did not disclose the reason behind the issues affecting the implicated Mac minis. New Mac minis equipped with an M2 chip are no longer offered by Apple, which currently provides Mac minis featuring either an M4 or M4 Pro chip.
