**Google Refines ‘Results About You’ Feature for Enhanced Privacy Management**
Google has updated its **Results About You** tool, offering users increased control over their personal information in Search.
The improved **proactive monitoring hub** streamlines the current feature, which notifies users when their personal details—like phone numbers or addresses—show up in search results. Now, users can request the deletion of such information all from a single location. Additionally, Google has broadened removal options directly within Search, enabling users to click the three-dot menu beside any result and take prompt action.
### **Requesting Updates for Outdated Search Results**
Users can also seek updates for outdated Search results. If a Search summary still features old information from a refreshed website, users can prompt Google to re-crawl the page by selecting **”I want to request a refresh”** from the same three-dot menu.
### **A Persistent Emphasis on Privacy**
Introduced in 2023, **Results About You** aimed to bolster online privacy and help avert digital doxxing. At launch, Google also rolled out features to tackle revenge porn and offered options to obscure explicit images in Search.
### **Google’s Continuous Work Against Misinformation and Privacy Threats**
As part of its expansive Search updates in 2024—featuring enhancements powered by **generative AI**—Google has implemented new strategies to fight misinformation and non-consensual personal imagery. These strategies include policies to restrict the distribution of **explicit deepfakes** and **AI-generated misinformation**.
Nonetheless, Google faced backlash in December for revising its platform programming and advertising policies, which some critics argue could facilitate **digital fingerprinting**—a technique for monitoring users online.
With these enhancements, Google persists in sharpening its approach to privacy, guaranteeing users greater control over their personal data in Search.
