There’s an undeniable charm in the exact control offered by a robust cordless Dyson. However, if tidying up isn’t your version of unwinding, why not pass the chore to someone else? The finest robot vacuums can tackle dust, crumbs, pet hair, and even spills or stains on hard surfaces without any effort from your end.
Having tested more than 25 robot vacuums in my meticulously maintained home, I can confidently spotlight the leading robotic vacuum cleaners that make your life easier.
Are Roombas the best robotic vacuums?
While several Roombas perform admirably, they’re not the only commendable options out there. iRobot dominated the robotic vacuum landscape from the early 2000s until recently, so it’s no surprise that many equate “Roomba” with robotic vacuums.
Nonetheless, Roombas no longer have a monopoly. You can’t search for “Roomba” without encountering comparisons with Shark robot vacuums. Brands such as Roborock and Eufy also deserve attention, as they consistently launch new models that often provide superior value compared to Roombas in their price category.
I am consistently evaluating leading robot vacuums across a range of prices and comparing them against previous top contenders, all within my home on various surfaces like rugs, tile, and hardwood. I assess each vacuum’s suction strength, cleaning efficiency (for those equipped with mopping functions), pet hair collection, self-emptying capabilities, self-cleaning mopping pads, smart mapping features, navigation skills, obstacle avoidance, and overall user experience, all viewed through a cost-effectiveness lens. I readily highlight when an economical vacuum presents a fantastic value or when a high-end model merits investment—or not, as with Roborock’s $2,599.99 robot vacuum with an arm.
Through my ongoing evaluations, I’ve refined the choices down to six selections. Here is the top robot vacuum for every household and budget in 2025.
Other robot vacuums I’ve evaluated recently
I’ve assessed a number of other prominent robot vacuums that didn’t make the current list. Some, like the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, Roborock Qrevo Master, Narwal Freo X Ultra, and various versions of Roomba j7, were once leading recommendations but have been outshined by newer, more powerful models that offer better value.
I have also examined several 2025 models that were decent yet not among my top selections. The Dreame X50 Ultra attracted attention at CES 2025 for its “climbing” capabilities, although it cannot navigate thresholds higher than 6 millimeters (approximately 2.36 inches). The Roborock Saros 10 and 10R handled thick doorframe thresholds in my apartment with equal ease. Its mopping and vacuuming functions outperform most mid-range models, but are not impressive enough to recommend over the Saros 10 alternatives.
