George Clooney takes on the role of a charismatic film star in Noah Baumbach’s forthcoming dramedy, “Jay Kelly.” The movie, co-penned by Baumbach (“Marriage Story,” “White Noise”) and Emily Mortimer in her debut feature film writing role, portrays Jay Kelly (Clooney), a renowned actor who feels disenchanted with the film industry. The storyline follows Jay as he journeys through Italy to receive an award at a film festival, with the film set to debut at the Venice International Film Festival. During his travels, Jay is accompanied by his manager Ron (Adam Sandler), his publicist Liz (Laura Dern), and a former acting colleague (Billy Crudup). The film’s ensemble cast also features Riley Keough, Jim Broadbent, Patrick Wilson, and Greta Gerwig. “Jay Kelly” is slated to debut on Aug. 28 at the Venice International Film Festival, be showcased at the New York Film Festival, reach select theaters on Nov. 14, and be available on Netflix starting Dec. 5.
