The timeframe to prolong Obamacare subsidies is approaching, with millions of Americans confronting the risk of drastically higher insurance costs if an agreement isn’t achieved. On Thursday night, Jimmy Kimmel took aim at President Donald Trump regarding this matter.
“How long has Trump been asserting that he has a strategy for healthcare?” the late-night host inquires in the clip above. “Picture having an employee or contractor tasked with something vital like your roof. During the interview, he reassures you, ‘I’ve got a plan for this roof, it’s going to be fantastic.’ You bring him on board, and after a while, you ask, ‘Where’s the roof plan?’ He responds, ‘It’s nearly finished.’ A year later, you’re still without a roof, and he says, ‘It’s on its way, soon.’ This spirals for four years until you let him go and find someone else. Then, four years down the line, he reappears, claiming, ‘That roof you have is awful, I could construct a significantly better roof for you.’ And you fall for it once more! […] This is akin to what Trump has been doing with healthcare.”
A montage of Trump footage from the past ten years follows, showcasing the president consistently vowing to unveil a healthcare plan.
“He’s been making these claims since 2015,” Kimmel comments. “At what point do we become the fools?”
