Google has formally launched Jules, its AI-driven coding assistant, making it readily available to users wherever the Gemini model is supported—no waiting list necessary.

First unveiled in December via Google Labs, Jules is intended to streamline and hasten the coding process. At Google I/O 2025, Tulsee Doshi, Senior Director and Product Lead for Gemini Models, described how the tool operates: “Simply submit a task, and Jules manages everything else—fixing bugs, implementing updates. It integrates with GitHub and functions independently,” she mentioned. “Jules can tackle intricate tasks in large codebases that previously took hours, like updating an outdated version of Node.js. It can outline the steps, modify files, and more within minutes.”

As stated in Google’s official blog, Jules is an “asynchronous, agentic coding assistant” that directly interacts with your current repositories. It securely duplicates your codebase into a Google Cloud virtual machine (VM), comprehensively grasps your project, and then performs tasks as needed.
