Following ABC’s indefinite suspension of Jimmy Kimmel, The Daily Show adopted a careful stance on Thursday with a 23-minute monologue by Jon Stewart, who lauded “father” Donald Trump from behind an ornate golden desk.
In the clip, Stewart employs his “hilarious, administration-compliant show” to talk about the president’s trip to the UK, telling the audience to “shut the f*** up” when they respond unfavorably to Trump, before addressing the president’s comments regarding Kimmel’s suspension for possessing “zero talent.”
“In America, we uphold the First Amendment. Here’s how it functions: There’s a Talent-o-Meter, a scientific device on the president’s desk, that gauges a performer’s TQ (talent quotient) — primarily based on their amiability towards the president. If it falls below a certain threshold, the FCC is alerted to intimidate network affiliates’ merger possibilities. These affiliates then exert pressure on the mega corporation regulating state-sanctioned content distribution. Alternatively, the FCC can directly threaten those licenses. It’s fundamental science! Consult the Constitution!”
