Sparkly orange appears to have replaced brat green and Barbie pink as the trend. Last month, brands adopted the color after Taylor Swift revealed her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, with a shimmering pumpkin-themed aesthetic. Some participated for the meme or marketing strategy, while others have truly committed with authentic Showgirl-themed items that Swifties can either purchase or win.
KitchenAid is providing a dozen stand mixers in a special edition Tangerine Twinkle finish as part of a “Showbiz Sweepstakes” leading up to Swift’s album launch on Friday, Oct. 3. Fans can join the sweepstakes at kitchenaid.com/countertop-appliances/showbiz from Monday, Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. ET until Oct. 3 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
This announcement has been in the works for weeks. KitchenAid first posted a picture of a sparkling orange stand mixer on Instagram in mid-August, joining other brands referencing Swift’s TLOAS teaser. The response was so enthusiastic that KitchenAid chose to turn the mixer into a reality for some fortunate winners.
This is not an official partnership between Swift and KitchenAid. The company does not mention her or TLOAS specifically on its sweepstakes page. However, a KitchenAid x Taylor connection seems appropriate.
Swift, 35, who owns a KitchenAid stand mixer herself, has a well-known passion for baking. During the Aug. 13 episode of her fiancé Travis Kelce’s podcast, New Heights, on which she announced TLOAS, Swift shared her recent sourdough obsession following the Eras Tour.
“I have a different baking craze every six months. At the moment, we’re very engrossed in a sourdough passion that has engulfed my life,” Swift stated. During that time, she was refining a recipe for Funfetti sourdough. Pillsbury’s role in the TLOAS excitement includes a Funfetti sourdough bread mix.
Recipes for pumpkin chocolate-chip and eggnog-glazed chai cookies have been part of Swiftian tradition for over a decade; she made them for fans during exclusive album listening events labeled “Secret Sessions” in 2014. Homemade Pop-Tarts are another of Swift’s culinary talents. Kelce lauded them as “incredible” last year.
KitchenAid is conducting live virtual cooking classes on Instagram this week, starting Tuesday, Sept. 30, showcasing confetti sourdough, chai cookies, and “Pastry Pockets.”
If you aren’t among the 12 winners of a Tangerine Twinkle stand mixer, the Scorched Orange version of KitchenAid’s five-quart Artisan Series tilt-head stand mixer ($499.99) is a good substitute. Other colors of the same mixer are discounted by $150 on KitchenAid’s website through Oct. 6 when bundled with a premium accessory pack.
