KPop Demon Hunters continues its ascent with the blockbuster Netflix movie earning Golden Globes for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Song for the timeless hit “Golden.” Singer-songwriter Ejae, who collaborated on and performed the record-setting, chart-topping track, accepted the accolade alongside co-writers Mark Sonnenblick and Lee Hee-joon.
“As a little girl, I dedicated a decade striving to achieve one aspiration—to be a K-pop idol, and I faced rejection and disappointment believing my voice wasn’t sufficient,” Ejae shared on stage. “I turned to music and songs to navigate those challenges. Now I stand here as both a singer and a songwriter.”
“It’s a dream realized to be part of a song that aids other girls, boys, and individuals of every age in overcoming difficulties and embracing who they are,” she expressed.
“I just want to emphasize that this award is for those who have faced closed doors. I can firmly state that rejection is merely redirection, so never lose hope.”
Ejae concluded with a line taken from her own “Golden” lyrics: “It’s never too late to shine like you were destined to be.”
