The Nintendo Switch 2 has been launched, and Microsoft’s Asus-driven handheld gaming PCs are imminent. Yet, another rival in the handheld PC arena could soon emerge.
A YouTube video from user “in yo” presents approximately 20 minutes of what appears to be a sequel to 2023’s Lenovo Legion Go. The gadget in the footage looks like a Legion Go 2 prototype, offering a preview of what to anticipate from the device, which might debut in September.
The Switch-like detachable controllers, a distinctive feature of the Legion Go compared to other handheld gaming PCs, seem to be more ergonomic this time. The new unit also boasts an OLED screen with specifications including a 1200p resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, which is quite impressive for handheld PC benchmarks.
There remain numerous uncertainties from the leaked video of the supposed prototype. The precise release date and pricing of the Legion Go 2 remain ambiguous, although it could surpass $500 given the display’s caliber. The upcoming MSI Claw A8 handheld might reportedly come with a price tag of $1,100 or more. The capability of the Legion Go 2 is also unclear. Windows Central indicates it may fall between the more robust ROG Xbox Ally X and the more basic ROG Xbox Ally. There could be multiple iterations of Legion Go 2 with different performance levels.
Indeed, there are numerous choices available at this time, aren’t there?
