At CES 2026, Lenovo’s CEO Yang Yuanqing responded to AI doubters by declaring, “Nobody can evade it.” During a keynote at The Sphere in Las Vegas, Lenovo unveiled a personal AI assistant named Qira designed for Lenovo and Motorola devices, along with a new range of AI-enhanced laptops and gadgets. AI has been a predominant theme at CES 2026, with companies such as Lenovo and Samsung imagining a future where AI is woven into everyday life. Lenovo’s Project Maxwell AI wearable aims to improve user assistance by perceiving and hearing everything the user engages in. AI is being integrated into a variety of devices, including smartphones, laptops, televisions, and washing machines.

After the Lenovo Tech World Event, a Q&A session involving Yang and Lenovo’s CTO, Tolga Kurtoglu, tackled AI apprehensions. Yang highlighted that AI will enable rather than displace people, asserting it is an inevitable movement. Kurtoglu remarked, “I don’t envision a world devoid of AI,” while also underscoring Lenovo’s dedication to ethical AI development, ensuring compliance with privacy and security standards.

Lenovo highlighted the voluntary aspect of Qira and its AI tools, giving users the option to participate. Nevertheless, as AI becomes widespread, opting out may prove difficult. Lenovo anticipates that AI PCs will lead the global market by 2028. Despite the industry’s excitement, a CNET survey indicated that only 11% of smartphone users upgrade for AI functionalities.
