Once a significant player in the Android smartphone sector, LG officially left the market in 2021. Now, the company is taking an additional step away from its mobile heritage by completely shutting down software update assistance.

As reported by Android Authority, LG will shut off its update servers for smartphones on June 30. This implies that after this date, users will be unable to download any software or security updates—either directly on their devices or through LG’s desktop software, LG Bridge. The application, which enabled users to handle updates and back up data via a PC, will also be phased out.

For those still possessing an LG smartphone, this is your final opportunity to install any outstanding updates. Following June, there will be no official approach to upgrade your device.

LG’s departure from the smartphone market occurred despite some captivating innovations, including a rollable phone concept that never reached commercial availability. Upon exiting, LG promised to offer three years of security updates for current users. That period has now ended, leaving LG phone users without additional support.
